My Story
Hi, I'm Emily! I grew up in the state of Alaska. I wanted to become a photographer because, growing up I have done a lot of hiking, cycling, and sightseeing of the surrounding outdoor areas. I have always been fascinated at the beautiful views that nature has to offer. I have always enjoyed taking photos to capture natures beauty!

I think, it was about high school when I finally settled on photography! I was signing up for classes for my freshman year of high school and picking out my electives. I noticed photography was an elective option and I always had liked taking photos so I decided to give it a shot. I happened to find that class fun, and decided during that time that photography is what I want to do with my life.

I knew, that photography alone, would be hard to get into the industry of, so I looked around through out high school for something to pair it with. I noticed, that not only do I like photography, but I also liked creative writing. I was often posting my pictures on social media and writing little captions to describe what was going on in the photo. So, I decided to my sophomore year try to become part of the yearbook crew to test things out. I found doing yearbook pretty fun so I continued my junior year. Around that time I decided that photojournalism is what I wanted to do with my life. Which beings me to where I am now majoring in journalism, and minoring in art specializing in photography. Thanks for your time! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!
